Earlier this week Mary Meeker published an update to her by now legendary internet trends presentation and Nielsen published their Social Media Report 2012. Taken together they tell us clearly that mobile and social are still growing very fast. Mobile apps are used nearly five times as much as mobile websites.

Reactions when I told people I was an “internet entrepreneur” ranged from smirks to blank stares.

The movie, “The Social Network” might have had more of an impact on creating future entrepreneurs than any other event of the past 5 years. In 1998 there were around 850 VC funds and by 2000 there were 2,300. In 1998 it was 150 million, 1999 250 million and by 2000 it had crossed 350 million. Mobility really changes everything.

As I started thinking about his question, I remember what it was like setting up our office in 1998 and the headaches and cost of buying a Nortel phone system and phones and hiring a Microsoft networking expert to get our office set up for file sharing, back up, and email. also can add mobile devices like Blackberry, Good-enabled, etc.
