They called themselves a “social OS.&# Essentially I see it as two things: 1) an aggregator of social content from multiple places including Twitter, Facebook and soon even Gmail. It serves a similar role as Digsby (which I love using) albeit from a social media metaphor rather than an IM metaphor.

We need to have a close look at the worlds two biggest social media networks of Twitter and Facebook – they run open API’s for each other to assist their customers and suppliers switch and share between each other. The government is using the shift to technology economies as their chance to reinvent.

I also think it is a reflection of an entire generation waking up to the fact that they can create something themselves, and it is no longer about following a path set by our parents, the government or the declining industrial powers that be. We are also seeing lots of backwards and forwards vertical integration. Bring it on.
