Guerilla Innovation Chapter Six. Ideas need development and implementation — get that done and you’ve still got to run the business. I’ll touch on them later in Guerilla Innovation (this online book) but, this book is primarily about innovation — that component of a business where value is created.
Last Thursday we were chatting about books. There are a ton of good innovation books out there, some of which I’ve reviewed here. The insight that seemed to dawn on several of us at the same time is that there really isn’t a great innovation book geared for smallbusiness.
Guerilla Innovation Chapter Eight. In my last post I introduced you to the concept of “Scaffolding” For those who are starting here, it’s essentially a thinking tool to take your mind to a new place — and aid in the objective of coming up with an innovative idea for your smallbusiness.

Guerilla Innovation Chapter Three. Small Biz Creative Problem Solving. Smallbusiness innovation is simply this: one problem after another. It’s a gauntlet. It’s a series of hurdles you have to jump over, and lots of them. Sometimes you intuitively know what you have to do, so you adjust and go and do it.
Many entrepreneurs are most defensive about the fact that their company is small, or worse, intimidated by the fact that their competitors are large. And by applying these same principals, the smallbusiness can succeed, time and again in competitive encounters! When, if truth be told, their size can be their biggest asset.
The best strategy will vary by industry, but it might be wise to incorporate paid advertising in addition to organic or guerilla marketing. A soft opening or a VIP night gives you a chance to work out some of the opening day kinks while also upping buzz around your business before it opens for the general public.
Businesses without a brick and mortar location can take a page from the celebrity brand promotion book and promote a live AMA for those following the brand, giving them a chance to offer answers to questions about a potentially complex service.
