2) Design ethic vs engineers - Over the course of the last 5-10 years, many software-based startups are being built on competitive advantages of design and businessmodel rather than technical differentiation. Just a minor nitpicky point: SanJose is actually much larger than SF, in both population and land area.
This will both reduce the number of angel investors and make it more difficult to syndicate across stage lines. There are several efforts being made to make this process better and will mention a couple below: Angel Capital Association Collaboration Committee - I was a charter member of the this group and the goal is to facilitate syndication among the angel groups via education and tools such as Angelsoft.
