These periods of time can leave a founder very vulnerable in the future. I don’t know 100% that this is true in all 50 states (if any lawyers read this please put notes in comments section) but I’m pretty darn sure that this is statuary law in California. That’s the difference between a founder and a non-founder.

The Cinepak codec was written by the engineer who would become my cofounder at Rocket Science Games.) Since we had gotten out of the software business when we came out of Chapter 11 , and our sales channel didn’t know what to do with software, we licensed ReelTime to Adobe. There was nothing for the consumer to do.

It’s not accident we have so many great startups targeting commerce including Tradesy, DailyLook, NastyGal, Honest Co & JustFab just to name a few. As a result we have a large number of locally employed engineers with video experience that will fuel the next boom of the Internet (Americans watch 5.3 ”).

Howard Marks, the co-founder of game giant Activision, and the current co-chair at the Los Angeles accelerator Start Engine , was born in Santa Monica to European parents, grew up in France and came back to the states for college. .
