Marketing requires a multi-channel approach. Even startups with a lean marketing strategy invest in at least two or three channels. This affects how you personalize content, creative, and the channels you use to reach them. But this can result in data being stored in silos. The same treatment applies to retention.

They distribute the content via established Platforms that help them reach and grow an audience such as Twitch, Youtube, Tiktok, SubStack, OnlyFans etc, and more often than not, they build following in more than one of these channels and benefit from cross promotion (i.e. San Diego based, founded in 2016 and started as a meme creator.

In companies this would be product line extensions, more efficient supply chain, new distribution channels. Note that they plan a trip to San Diego to visit the customer. To these Horizon 1 leader’s, innovation is often considered an extension of what they already do today.
