Over my career as a serial entrepreneur I observed that since the late 1990s, no early-stage Silicon Valley investor had used business plans to screen investments. It taught lean theory ( business model design , customer development and agile engineering) and practice. Even those who asked for them never read them. Seeing Is Believing.

I spent two weeks of December in Chile as a guest of Professor Cristóbal García, Director of EmprendeUC at the Catholic University of Chile , which just signed up a 3-year collaboration partnership with Stanford’s Technology Ventures Program. Chile has decided that it wants to be an innovation hub in South America.

To achieve that vision, we need new technologies; new collaborative strategies between governments, NGOs, and the private sector; new methods of sharing and scaling what works. Entrepreneurs find the right innovations from networks and build them into products and services with business models. We need entrepreneurs of all sorts.
