So for this first post, here’s the best advice I can give you: join an awesome founding team and get your product out the door ASAP. One of the things I do as a founder of a later stage startup is to meet with early stage entrepreneurs to help them get their companies going. Especially if you aren’t from around SiliconValley.

When I reviewed a recent productdevelopment book, it immediately shot up to Amazon sales rank 300. Most publishers are still caught up in an outdated “vision vs. metrics&# argument, which is already obsolete here in SiliconValley. My blog has over 14000 subscribers, for example. Is that a lot? Is that good?
Founders push for it. In some ways, founders are even worse. My experience is that many founders actually have a deep anxiety that maybe they are not succeeding. In fact, we often felt frustrated when new startups with a fraction of our success got terrific write-ups in SiliconValley-centric venues.
Strategy - startups first encounter this when they have the beginnings of a product, and theyve achieved some amount of product/market fit. If youre making revenue, you should be finding ways to grow it predictably month-over-month; if youre focused on customer engagement, your product should be getting more sticky, and so on.
Eric, Any thoughts on how forum feedback fits into customer development and agile productdevelopment? Youve probably addressed this in the past, but I continue to be blown away by how fast Blizzard reacts to noise in their forums and rapidly makes fixes to the product. What is customer development?
