What exactly is going to be the name of your business? Whatever the inspiration or relation may be, the naming of your business is one of the most important parts of becoming a CEO. I came up with my company name by asking myself, what will I be doing often? When I was naming it, I had a few criteria.
I generally try not to stalk people I don’t know when they announce they’re in town, but as a fellow VC (and a partner in Southern California’s largest fund), I felt we had a legitimate reason to connect. This was obviously more open than my Palo Alto Tweet because I actually named the location. Small world.

While we have a home in Homer, where we will be for the next three weeks, we still call Boulder, Colorado our home. Ultimately, we decided to move to Boulder, Colorado. Nope – Amy and I aren’t moving to Homer. But we came very close to moving to Homer in 1995. We were living in Boston at the time.
