CargoX is based in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The startup community and ecosystem is developed to a certain stage that does not currently provide long shots, which are possible in larger cities with better VC and investors background. In December, CargoX secured partnerships with both Global Cargo Alliance and ConsolFreight.

For the 2010 and 2011 Lean Startup conferences , we offered the complete conference for simulcast so that people could join in from their communities around the world. These simulcasts are important community-building opportunities. (BTW, BTW, you can read more about why in Brad Feld's new book, Startup Communities.)

We struggle with this issue every year, because we strongly encourage everyone who can to participate with their local entrepreneurship community. Strengthening ties between entrepreneurs is one of our most important values. That said, there comes a point where that's not possible for everyone.

The latest maker experience I’m having is the book my wife Amy and I are writing called Startup Life: Surviving and Thriving in a Relationship with an Entrepreneur. Next is the book Startup Communities: Building an Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in Your Community which shipped at the end of September. Then Startup Life.

It started with a bike crash in Slovenia, followed by a few weeks in New York where I physically felt awful. I get to work with incredible companies and entrepreneurs every day. So – all of the stuff I’m doing around Startup Communities is extracurricular activity. And I get to define how I spend my time.

I haven’t run much at all since my bike accident in Slovenia in early September and my ribs and left elbow still hurt a little. I spent all day Monday with entrepreneurs and the activity in the core of Detroit around the emerging Detroit Startup Community is really exciting.
