My wife, Ann, and I took a trip this past spring to visit Estonia, Finland, Ireland and Russia. Two hundred angels, entrepreneurs and members of the startup community attended this inaugural event. It was organized by Diane Roberts of Xcell Partners and held at the StartupBaseCamp accelerator in Dublin.

My partner Rob had also been introduced to Hardi separately by an experienced CAD exec (Mike Volpe – now Hubspot’s CMO). It was still early days for the company then, at the time we invested in GrabCAD’s seed round in the spring of 2011 they had around 3,000 engineers in their community. Onward and upward.'

One of the earliest things we did at NextView when my partners and I started working together was go away as a team to the New Hampshire mountains. It’s commonly said that the biggest risk facing a new VC firm is disharmony among the partners. At the time, I think we didn’t even had a name for the fund. OUR INDUSTRY.

For the first time, it partnered with AngelList to help create an open application process. Not bad considering that founding partner Dave McClure has been adamant about supporting non-US startups and recently acquired the Mexican.VC accelerator and brought on two venture partners to help oversee its India investments.
