The Austin Technology Incubator (ATI) and the State Energy Conservation Office (SECO) are announcing a program to launch two new clean energy incubators at Texas universities. This program will make two awards of $200,000 each to build clean energy incubation capability. This program provides the seed capital to do so.

Ive written a little bit about the origins of Silicon Valley because I think its important for us to understand how we got here in order to make sure we preserve what is best about our community. The companies I spoke to all agreed that the community there was extremely supportive, especially in the critical ulta-early-stage.

Springboard debuted in 2009 as an " accidental incubator " emerging from the company Red Gate Software. The program offers seed capital, office space, and "most importantly - that magical ingredient of 'smart-community' with mentors and other entrepreneurs." Springboard aims to help early stage startups.

I had witnessed a number of early-stage tech startups in LA raise seed capital from the Bay Area and relocate. and I thought if we brought the community together for common purpose we could create more of a sense of community to help new entrepreneurs get funded, assemble teams, raise profiles and help with biz dev, product, etc.
