So heres my simple question: What do folks in Washington need to know about the global community of entrepreneurs? I'll add one more point: The SBIR program is based on a dated notion of small business research, and the multi-year process doesn't line up with the speed of many modern startups. There are and we do.

SBIR/STTR Program and Startup Seed Funding. The Small Business Innovative Research ( SBIR ) and Small Business Technology Transfer ( STTR ) programs are startup seed funds created by Congress to encourage U.S. small businesses to turn Government-funded research into commercial businesses.

Despite the fact that the grant community looks impossibly messy for a startup to navigate, a good starting place is Grants.gov , where you can find a fairly comprehensive directory of federal grants (especially SBIR-related solicitations), searchable by keyword/agency/funding-type/date. o New York Grant Watch.
