“Empowering women through design” is core value Raven + Lily uses to guide their business. Raven + Lily is a socially conscious lifestyle brand dedicated to empowering women through design. They were learning to sew and make jewelry, but they lacked market access and design input. So Raven + Lily was born.
That doesn’t include the fact that water costs are rising at an unprecedented rate due to climate change, and water shortages around the world. We wanted to create a brand that really allowed people to do that, and specifically do that through seasonal gear where all the pieces of clothing of a design inspired by somewhere in the world.
The crowdSPRING creatives agreed to offer up their services on a voluntary basis to worthy non-profits and charitable groups at no cost to the organizations, while we agreed to waive all fees and assist in the setup and promotion of their projects. We came up with a different way of transparently handling public donations (the 100% model), cared deeply about design and storytelling, and wanted to hold ourselves accountable to effective work in the field (which at first was as simple as putting up all the photos and GPS of our water projects on Google earth and maps).
