My contract developers building the app aren’t very responsive. neither you nor your cofounder can code and you’re building a mobile app? I offered that if Dave wanted to be the founding CEO then he was going to have to do two things: first, create a reality distortion field large enough to attract a technical co-founder.

But he left to work on what he told me he came to do - crack the innovation code of Silicon Valley and share it with the rest of the world. They also over-invest in solo founders and founding teams without technical cofounders despite indicators that show that these teams have a much lower probability of success.

They had this great architecture, and Apple had figured out to get movies into their own computers for a demo, but for the rest of us there was no physical device that allowed an average consumer to plug a video camera or VCR into and get video into a Mac. But the rest of the management team really skeptical. Little did we know.

They have many, many man-years of development and customer development in them. Well yeah, you could potentially find a cofounder. Ten million, I think I can be very, very happy for the rest of my life. There’s a third alternative, and that’s a cofounder. Edwin: You get a cofounder onboard.

Only eBay was founded by a single individual – the rest were team efforts. Post launch, if you gain traction, is where the business person will help take the load off of the technical folks. The business person can take all the meetings while the technical folks work on making the product better. link] steve Interesting article.
