My contract developers building the app aren’t very responsive. neither you nor your cofounder can code and you’re building a mobile app? I offered that if Dave wanted to be the founding CEO then he was going to have to do two things: first, create a reality distortion field large enough to attract a technical co-founder.

He set up Blackbox.vc, a seed accelerator for technology startups (and one of the tour stops for entrepreneurs from around the world.) They also over-invest in solo founders and founding teams without technical cofounders despite indicators that show that these teams have a much lower probability of success. Congratulations.

Finding Technical Cofounders Is Hard. Yesterday, Michael Pope posted an article titled Technical Cofounders Are a Myth. He argued that software engineers don’t finish what they start, and that you’re better off paying a technical person than partnering with one. Tuesday, August 17, 2010.

The Cinepak codec was written by the engineer who would become my cofounder at Rocket Science Games.) It still shocks me that marketing people in general don’t want to talk to customers, at all. I was the Senior Technical Writer for SMac from 1988-1991. There was nothing for the consumer to do. The Novelty effect?

And when you look at the tools that we use, I mean we’ve made so many technological advances, but really to manage a meeting there’s not a practical tool available. They have many, many man-years of development and customer development in them. Well yeah, you could potentially find a cofounder.
