SEO / SEM are promotional techniques for marketing through the Google distribution channel, which have yielded huge benefits to many companies – Yelp being a prime example. Having a high position can make a huge difference to “organic” downloads. That gets you 45,000 or so downloads in today’s crowded ecosystem.

How many through SEM? per click on an SEM basis this is NOT your cost to acquire a customer – you need to add conversion rate. In the mobile world many apps are downloaded but never used or perhaps only used for one day. If you can break this down by channel that you’ve acquired them from this is obviously better.

Tip: Make your menu available as text, not as a downloadable PDF. Users don’t like downloading files and many will be accessing your site without the ability to view PDS. Don’t forget search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM). Personality!
