We had an interesting presentation at the LA CTO Forum by the CTO of a startup who chose Groovy / Grails as the framework for their startup. t prompted a good discussion around how CTOs go about choosing the programming language and framework for their startup. Of course, I'm not sure that anyone chooses Java alone.

Do a curl (or your.NET equivalent) on each domain, and see how many are running a Windows server: I think you’ll find the fraction very small. As one of the coherent commentators says below, Joel Spolsky himself laments schools teaching Java with the same basic reasoning of my article above, albeit more diplomatically stated.) .NET

Developer, engineer, CTO, or technical co-founder? I mean a rockstar developer, you need a reliable, steady, bull-like technical partner. Even a beginner and mediocre developer can instill life into your mock-ups and bring the MVP live. Sooner or later, using PHP or RoR or.Net or some Java framework, that 0.5x
