One of the key differences between BARD and ChatGPT is that Bard is connected to the Internet and can provide real time results. ChatGPT is an incredibly powerful tool, but its trained on data up to September 2021 and is only now starting to connect to the Internet via Plugins (the feature is being rolled out slowly only to Pro subscribers).
(Researchers believe this tipping point is result of the complex interactions between the neural network architecture and the massive amounts of training data it has been exposed to – essentially everything that was on the Internet as of September 2021.) Welcome to our brave new world.
But change seems to be brewing in the B2C space, powered by the fast advancements in AI and generativeAI. Digiday reported conversations with media executives, with one publisher seeing a more than 50% decline in its search referral traffic since AI Overviews rolled out last year.

The most common analogies I’ve been considering with the current wave of generativeAI are blockchain, self-driving cars, and Web 2.0. Blockchain There are a lot of similarities between this era of generativeAI and the Blockchain. The stark difference between crypto and AI lies in their use cases.
Andreessen Horowitz Consumer Team Opportunities for startups I’m a big fan of the content A16Z has been publishing on generativeAI over time. Artificial Intelligence – Scaling global intelligence and redefining work: AI training costs should continue to fall 75% per year. trillion by 2030.
However, the current hype around generativeAI feels different. Naturally, a technology like generativeAI has the potential to transform and impact many industries, if not all. Many intelligent individuals and consulting firms have written about various industries and their potential use cases for generativeAI.
In the early days, and this was really early back in 1989 when I first started playing in this area, before the internet, it was really just focused on marketing, using customer data to target to do a bit more matching of a name. And then in the internet area it became retargeting. David Edelman (03:46): Yeah, sure.

There’s an interesting thing happening in the generativeAI world. More and more, established companies are leaning into generativeAI by either adding generativeAI features to their existing suite of tools or partnering with AI companies (mostly OpenAI or the open source HuggingFace) to launch entirely new products.
ChatGPT’s advanced voice mode and Eleven Labs are setting new benchmarks in conversational AI by enhancing voice quality and realism, NotebookLM’s natural voice podcast took the Internet by storm and new open source technologies are making high quality voice cloning easier than ever.
It’s that it demands a review of internet Search as we know it, how we perform searches literally and the resulting business model which underlies it. The recent option to subscribing to ChatGPT for $20 per month is a clue as to where the business model of GenerativeAI is likely to go – subscription rather than advertising.

While incumbents like Amazon, Google, and Microsoft have vast resources and existing integrations, startups have the advantage of speed, focus, and the ability to attract top AI talent interested in building from the ground up. When it comes to GenerativeAI, the incumbents are not resting on their laurels.
We still believe that there are huge opportunities in decentralized networks, especially in DeFi, as well as the blockchain’s capacity as a “system of record”, especially now with the explosive progress of generativeAI (another emerging theme we’re spending time on).
AI is part of that story. Marketers are just starting to use AI and wrap their heads around how it can be useful for what we're doing for SEO, and then Google is implementing ai, so generativeAI on the search results pages, and that can be scary depending on exactly how Google implements it going forward.

There's already lots of issues with AI creating and just making up facts, references, studies and that sort of thing.
If AI’s current excitement and hype interests you, I encourage you to join the Rocky Mountain Artificial Intelligence Interest Group (RMAIIG). The monthly Meetup will follow the fascinating and rapidly evolving world of generativeAI tools.
Even prior to generativeai, we had content farms where people would just generate crappy low quality content. And I Yeah, John (09:14): They're just human AI bots.
