They are no longer remarkable in Santa Monica or Venice or in many cities in America, Europe or SouthAmerica. In my home town of Santa Monica they painted 19 miles of bike lanes green to help delineate bikes & scooters from cars and they built 3 miles of soft barriers to test how this works with traffic flow.
This is especially true of its tech, an industry where Santiago’s innovations aren’t just making waves in SouthAmerica, but are attracting some serious global attention. And the best thing about Santiago’s tech? Much of it is seems pretty set on making the world just that bit better to live in.
Still, I’m proud to live in America. My dad’s from SouthAmerica if you’re interested. He left in his early twenties to come to America for his med-school residency. He traveled throughout SouthAmerica on a donkey selling tools and cutlery until he met my grandmother in Columbia. I understand that.

John Green (@johngreen) December 4, 2014. We know about the “stand your ground” laws that led to the killing of unarmed, 17-year-old African America, Treyvon Martin. My father is from SouthAmerica and my family is Jewish. Eric Garner’s last words. pic.twitter.com/5lbqIEm63t.
