While our data does apply to a US audience, the reasons for starting a business really aren’t going to be that different, whether you’re in Canada or South Africa. As it integrates with many of the major accounting platforms, you shouldn’t have a hard time drilling down into key metrics to figure out how you’re doing.

You can hover over each box to get a sense of the key metrics. They also have an app for Treemaps, and it includes using color, as in the Compete case, to represent a metric (say Conversion Rate)! China, South Africa, Egypt. It shows all the incoming traffic to a site as a Treemap. I like the last option the best.

As if massive data we have is not enough of a problem, we also rely on Averages, Percentages, Ratios and Compound/Calculated Metrics in a profoundly sub optimal way, as a drunken man uses lamp-posts – for support rather than for illumination. You saw this problem when I sorted descending or ascending for the metric bounce rate above.
