So my family is Jewish and very typical immigration story – his father left Romania at 19, had to get a fake passport in order to get out of the country, left and never went back, and left in the middle of winter and got frostbite. Today, the end of Communism in Eastern Europe seems so obvious, but in my home country of Romania, until the day Nicolae Ceausescu was shot dead, I thought he would rule forever. This reminds me of one of the most unbelievable vestiges of communist Romania: the so-called “Department for the Betterment of the People”. Final thought.

In our weekly partner’s meeting yesterday, we ended up in a discussion about the progression of offshore development in a variety of portfolio companies. In the end, the companies that were doing the best job with development were the ones that had their own operations offshore. I am already seeing that happen.

Selling antivirus technology (via their acquisition of Romania’s GeCAD Software) will not make their OS less vulnerable. My recommendation is that MSFT should look at partnering with security management software companies so its customers can take control of their security.
