Alliy is managing partner of the Savannah Fund , a $10 million fund that will soon begin investing in technology startups in East Africa, including Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya. My 3G connection in Tanzania is better than what I get in San Francisco. So Mbwana Alliy is creating the Savannah Fund fund to help them.

Many international entrepreneurs are looking at what is working in the USA and cloning them in various countries, our venue partner in Rio De Janeiro, Peixe Urbano (which means “Urban Fish” in Portuguese) is based upon the Groupon model. Many startups are Silicon Valley clones. Governments supportive of technology.

And it was really cool to see a company from Tanzania. Next Taha Jiwaji of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, gave us an interesting snapshot of some opportunities opening up in Africa. We discussed marketing, advertising and direct marketing agencies as being the best channel partners for him. Don't spray and pray! Bongo Live!

So has my partner Seth and his wife Greeley, who is currently a trustee on the TNC Colorado board. Amy went to Tanzania and Kenya in 2009 with TNC to increase capacity of TNC non-profit partners.
