The funny part is that I didn’t realize Eventbrite had male cofounders since Women 2.0 always spotlighted Julie Hartz, cofounder and wife of Kevin. I liked hearing the who’s who of Silicon Valley in his stories, but more importantly he had really good take aways. Keep a watch out!

Friendster’s valuation set the tone for the entire social networking space. Put another way, the ideal financing partner is a financing cofounder. Eric also showed deep technology capabilities, proving our technical chops. Professional networking, not social networking.

At this stage you’re essentially selling yourself and your cofounders. Pre-launch funding is pretty common in Silicon Valley, but that’s a unique case. But to get that Silicon Valley angel funding you have to be part of that social network; most of the rest of the world doesn’t have that frothy environment.
